How I Explained REST to my brother

1. Who is Roy Fielding?
   • Some guy. He’s smart.
   • helped write the first web servers that sent documents across the internet. Researched explaining why the web works way it does. His name is on the specification for hte protocol that is used get pages from servers to your browser.
2. Why don’t the techniques that we use in this class work well when we need to be able to talk to all the machines of the world?
   • we are learning front and back end development for a specific setup. Talking to all the machines of the world at once requires a different kind of process.
3. What is the HTTP protocol that Filding and his friends created?
   • Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is capable of describing the location of something anywhere in the world from anywhere in the world. Foundation of the web.
4. What does GET do?
   • It gets something from another system
5. What does POST do?
   • Adds something to another system
6. What does PUT do?
   • Replaces something in another system
7. What does PATCH do?
   • Partially updates something in another system
